Pitt Family Weekend Tailgate is sold out. If you already purchased tickets and need to add a ticket for your Pitt student, please email parents@pitt.edu.
For hotel information, please visit the Local Hotels page with University discounted rates at local accommodations. All guests must be booked through Concur or an Anthony Travel agent in order to access all of our contracted rates.
Family Weekend 2023 Schedule
The asterisk * represents an event where Panther Plus Package wristbands are required.
Early On-Site Check-In on Wednesday and Thursday
Early check-in will be held Wednesday, November 1, and Thursday, November 2 in the William Pitt Union from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Students may stop by to check in their registered visitors. Check in process will include receiving a welcome bag, and picking up any requested housing access wristbands.
Check-In Station
- 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.
- William Pitt Union Kimbo Art Gallery
- Families can check in to receive their welcome bags and housing access wristbands.
Family Lounge
- 12 p.m. - 6 p.m.
- William Pitt Union Lower Lounge
- Relax after your travels and check out the family lounge to enjoy giant lawn games and decorate your own Pitt-themed cupcakes.
Tour of Hillman Library
- 3 p.m. - 3:45 p.m.
- Hillman Library (meet at the first floor information desk)
- Come see your child's home away from home on campus, Hillman Library! Take a brief tour and explore the unique, hands-on spaces available to your students.
School of Pharmacy Open House
- 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.
- Salk Hall, School of Pharmacy
- The School of Pharmacy will host an open house, including a Meet the Dean session from 3 p.m. - 4 p.m. Our RxAmbassadors will be providing tours to families every 15 minutes.
David C. Frederick Family and Advocate Open House
- 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.
- Cathedral of Learning, Floors 34-36
- Celebrate Pitt and Frederick family pride from the top of the Cathedral of Learning! Frederick Honors College students, along with their visiting families and advocates, are invited to join us for refreshments, explore our beautiful views, and meet with Frederick Honors staff and faculty.
Welcome Reception*
- 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
- Cathedral of Learning Commons Room
- Join us for the official kickoff to Pitt Family Weekend 2023! Enjoy time with other families, students, and staff from around campus. Student Affairs administrators and staff will be at the reception to welcome you to campus and answer your questions about campus life. Appetizers and light refreshments will be served.
- Due to the large number of anticipated visiting Pitt families, registered families will receive a follow-up email to select the time they would like to attend the reception. Options will be 6 p.m., 7 p.m., or 8 p.m. The reception experience will be the same at all time slots.
Family Bingo*
- 9 p.m. - 11 p.m.
- William Pitt Union Assembly Room, Ballroom & Kurtzman Room
- B-I-N-G-O! Join fellow Pitt families for some fun and nostalgia with a game of Bingo and the chance to win some great prizes.
School of Social Work, MSW Informational Open House
- 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
- Cathedral of Learning, Room 2017
- The School of Social Work will be hosting an MSW Open House for prospective students interested in learning more about our MSW program. Meet with faculty, current students, and alumni and receive important program information. Light refreshments will be provided
Family Weekend Tailgate
- 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
- The Great Lawn (outside Acrisure Stadium)
- Keep the Family Weekend fun going before watching Pitt take on Florida State! Join us for fun, food, music, and games before you head into the stadium.
Pitt vs. Florida State Football Game
- 3:30 p.m.
- Acrisure Stadium
- Cheer on Pitt football as they take on Florida State! Tickets must be purchased in advance and are not included in Family Weekend packages.
Farewell Grab and Go Brunch*
- 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.
- William Pitt Union Assembly Room
- Breakfast is on us. Grab and go breakfast options will be provided to fuel your trip home and ease your goodbyes from campus.

The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon
